ATLAS DC0 Definition
After N. McCubbin
Following the discussions at the December s/w workshop and at Friday's CSG (7 Dec), the detailed planning for DC0 is as follows:
- Before Xmas (2001): use Release 2.4.1 to exercise the event
generation and simulation, identifying and solving
any problems. Scale: 30k events
(Reconstruction not possible as modifications to
"RD event" to cope with new geometry not yet available.)
- Starting as soon as possible in January 2002: use release 2.5.0
(which has the necessary mods to "RD event") to exercise
generation, simulation, and reconstruction. The reconstruction
in the release will not handle the 4cm "gap" in the end-caps.
Updated reconstruction (to handle the gap) will be checked against
this release and included in release 3.0.0. Scale: >30k events.
Release 2.5.0 will also be used to process the generated events
using the ATLFAST chain.
- Starting end January 2002, use Release 3.0.0, with updated
Reconstruction to test full "continuity" in one release:
generation, simulation, reconstruction, write-out, read-back.
Scale: 30-50k events.
- Once the modifications to handle the updated geometry in
'RD event' have been done (i.e. release 2.5.0), then work
should be done to enable processing (i.e. reconstruction)
of those Physics TDR samples which cannot (currently) be
processed, e.g. "96-12".
This will conclude DC0, around mid-February 2002 if all goes well.
